First Draft.

This is our first draft that our group has produced and what we have shown to multiple people to give us some constructive criticism.

Please feel free to comment what you think as this could come in useful later on when we finalize our thriller.

Audience feedback

Our group have shown this to some of our friends and family to get there opinions on our thriller. Just to see if there is anything we can improve to make it up to a higher quality. Here is some of the feedback:
  • Firstly one of our Friends pointed out that our titles may be in the wrong order because the actors names come up before the directors name and felt that this should be the other way round.
    • Therefore we have changed this because we wanted all the feedback as we could to help improve our thriller. We all agreed on that this may be in the wrong order so we have changed it so it should be in the right order.
  • Also we found that the shot around 1:01 isn't needed at its there for a split second therefore there isn't enough time to see what is actually happening. We haven't took this as out of yet but I think we are going to get rid of it as we also thought it was an unnecessary scene to have.

  • Also someone pointed out the title screen looks a bit too cartoonish and the slowed down laughter doesn't quite work. They said Perhaps an uncomfortably loud heartbeat/thud would be better and a white on black with ‘Fact’ then ‘Or’ then ‘Fiction’ coming up on the screen.
  • Then lastly Between 1.53 and 2.11 the speed of these cuts need speeding up to go in time to the clock ticking. Alternate between black screen and glimpses of the dead bodies…just enough to show the audience what has happened and the screen of the phone to make the viewer work harder! And they said perhaps you can use this section to bring up your main title screen?
We are going to as a group go away and look through these comments and try to tweak a few things to make our thriller to the top mark.

Continuity

This table is the finished one of many. As I made lots of little tables for each scene to make sure if we needed extra footage then everything can stay the same to keep the continuity within our thriller. But then Sid being as clever as Sid is put all of the tables in one like a genius.

Equipment needed.

Regional Identity

As a group we looked at what is meant when we say British. This included at looking at Regional Identity and the common features of being 'British'.

Regional identity includes:

-Place They are (Mise en scene).

  • This could be from Where in the world they are for example if its set in India you may expect the people there to be Indian. Or it could be how their house/ life works for example it could be the way their house is dressed.
-Dress

  • Also the way people dress can sometimes not always symbolise where people are from like if they are waering traditional clothing of a certain place then you may be able to guess with some knowlage where they may be from.
-Accents
  • Sometimes you can have an idea what region someone is from just from how they speak.
What does the term Being British mean to me?

Britishness:

-Drinking tea
-London Accent

These are some of the things that are related to people being British.

I believe that knowing some understanding of regional identity is very important in to days society as the world is ever changing and i believe that its important to know things about other people.

Location

These are the Pictures from Sid's house that we filmed in that you will see at the start of our thriller. This room was good because of the dark background and surroundings.

The pictures here are pictures form the room we used in our school to set up the school/ classroom scenes where we all agree on sharing the post and then we used the room to film our death scenes. This room was a really good room to use as it has lots of room therefore we can have many different angles with the camera without being obstructed my objects in the way.

This is the room we used at the end of our thriller (Sorry about the Christmas Tree). But this was a really important scene we filmed as the scene filmed here was the scene that leaves the audience in suspense and want to watch on but then after this scene it leaves it on a bit of a cliff hanger as it just goes black and then finishes.

Our Responsibilities

Within our group we all have set responsibilities that we all have to stick in order to keep organised and to stay on track. In the following Canva, that Sidonie has made for us, it outlines the responsibilities we all have.

Analysis of how children are represented in media.

This is our group's research on the younger audience (Children). We all worked together to find different key aspects on this audience. In particular Lauren and I looked at the Thriller ''The Conjuring 2'' as this has a child in it and we all looked into why children are often the victims. Sidonie and I looked at statistics of how many children make up our population in the UK and the World as a whole, just to see how much children make up the audience of TV in general.

Examiner For A Day

Last lesson we looked at last years, year 12's openings to thrillers and looked at what grades they were rewarded for their work. Since seeing what grades they have got it’s made me feel more confident in what our group could achieve if we put in the work like the examples we watched put in. One the other hand this has made me feel a bit scared as I don't have as much experience on the editing software as many others do. Therefore I believe that when it comes to editing I won’t be able to execute the techniques as well as these examples, but as the examples showed you can achieve great grades with some mistakes in the editing.

In this video 'Peek a Boo' the start is really good with the choice of colour and sound but as you carry on watching the choice of night time was a bad choice in my opinion because this group has tried to cover up the daylight scenes with the black and white filter over the film but this group executed some good techniques ect and got rewarded 44 marks for this which was a B grade.

Our Story Board

Audience

Our thriller is set in the modern day and set to be aimed at the young adult range (15-24 years of age). We aim to give the audience a sensation feeling that they can relate to everyday life when they share a conspiracy/scare mongering post on the social media platform, Facebook. We believe that this thriller will use the gratification theory, where the subject you watch can affect how you think and feel about specific things or people. As this topic is relatable to the younger generation, it will perhaps make them think twice about what they post on Facebook or any other social media. We also believe that our thriller will alert people to create a personal identity towards the short film as they may think about what they share on their social media pages in which many others are able to see; noticing how this can affect the people by changing the way in they think about how posts on social media can have a vast impact on the people who look and even re-share their posts.
